The sought after album was originally released in 1974 on the tiny label „Creative Music Records“, with only a few hundred copies known to exist. Leader Dieter Bihlmaier stands out as a fantastic flute player, recalling some of the best moments of icons like Eric Dolphy, Sahib Shihab or Jeremy Steig. Bassist Jan Jankeje, percussionist Gerhart Ziegler and vibraphonist Gerhard Dietz form his magnificent rhythm section, that fosters exploration of the group`s highly polyphonic compositions with a light touch of free jazz. This is the third and final album by Jamaican born tenorist Fitz Gore, another rare and beautiful spiritual jazz LP from the late 1970s. “Fitz had a very deeputopian faith in the right music, which could change the world and develop a real condition of peace, because it was supposed to move people`s feelings and actions to spiritual truth. He was convinced that music owned the healing power of the world” (U. Kurth). Other players include L. Mampasi on electric piano, O. Ngomo on bass or E. Dipanda on drums. First ever reissue of the lost debut LP by Jamaican tenor saxophone player Fitz Gore and his experimental group The Talismen from 1975. The work was originally released on Gore’s GorBra label and delivers an introspective, sensitive form of Spiritual Jazz, including versions of Coltrane’s “Dahomey Dance“ and Horace Silver`s “Song For My Father“. The personnel are “Shepherd” Gore with U. Kurth (Piano), G. Ebbo (Bass), P. Zobda-Quitman (Drums) and L. Hampton (Congas). This is the fourth, and until now, unreleased album by Kapingbdi, a six-piece band from West Africa, which billed itself as “African Jazz-Funk-Rock from Liberia”. It is a skilful mix of African and Western elements, with a spiritual heart and dynamic grooves. In January 1985 and shortly before the group disbanded, they recorded nine tracks for an aborted LP project at Masterpiece studio in Detroit, U.S.A. In 2019 the music was carefully remastered from the original 24-track master tape.
